Right now, in the UK, it’s tough to find and select good candidates to fill job vacancies. And it’s going to get worse over the coming years, so you, as a hiring manager, have got to get good at it.

This introduction to Trimester 3 of TimelessTime’s Level 7 Manager Development sets this scene. In it we review first what’s wrong with the current approach that most firms take to recruitment. Considering that most firms report insufficient skilled staff to support their growth, we discuss why this approach is not fit for purpose.

We then discuss a new approach that focusses on one concept – criteria. Once you have determined precisely the jobs you want done and the success criteria for the jobholders, the rest becomes (relatively) easy. That criteria sets who you’ll search for, where and how you’ll search and exactly how you’ll go about interviewing and selecting new recruits.

We illustrate that search and selection is a science. Success in it demands understanding this science and exploiting the various methods and tools that bring clarity to the task.

Programme

In this webinar we’ll:

  • Review the current approach to recruitment and selection;
  • Identify exactly where and how this old approach is broken;
  • Underpin the new approach, starting with job purpose;
  • Build the new approach as a process from job to jobholder; and
  • Illustrate the elements of the process, setting the scene for other webinars.

By the close, you’ll understand the failings of the present recruitment and selection approach and be able to propose how it might be changed.
